SME CHAPTER 107 HOSTS PUBLIC FORUM ON HOW TO PREVENT MANUFACTURING ORGANIZATIONS
FROM MOVING OFF-SHORE

Greater Smoky Mountain Chapter 107 (Knoxville,
TN) of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers will host a public forum dealing
with the off-shoring of manufacturing jobs to low-cost labor markets with keynote speaker and subject matter expert Mark Hehl.

Mark Hehl, Hehl
and Associates, has advised and set up several organizations that have moved their operations to China and other “low-cost” labor markets. His keynote event will be titled “Avoid Moving Operations Overseas”. He will review both the perceived benefits and the over-looked expenses in dealing with this difficult
topic.
2005 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award winner Ralton B. Emory will open the session discussing the differences
between “outsourcing” and “off-shoring”.
Forum is free and open to the public.

Chapter 107 was chartered by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (Dearborn,
MI) on June 6th, 1953. Currently,
the chapter serves 135+ members as well as others interested in manufacturing education, networking, and promotion.
